On the street: Harbourfront -- Canada Day 2010/07/01

A BOAT beneath a sunny sky,
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July --

...
Long has paled that sunny sky:Echoes fade and memories die:
Autumn frosts have slain July.

...

In a Wonderland they lie,Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die:
Ever drifting down the stream --
Lingering in the golden dream --
Life, what is it but a dream?

On the street: Queen's Park -- Canada Day 2010/07/01

"Do not destroy your city" he screamed, in a barely audible voice. No one really heard him.

This happened on Canada Day, just 4 days after the violent protest at G20 that happened in the core of Downtown Toronto. A group of a few hundred youths wearing black face masks broke away from an otherwise peaceful protest and started burning police cars and breaking store windows, looting.

What bothers me is that instead of asking the question of who will take these youths to justice, some of my associates (who happen to be young socialists) are asking the question of what did society do to push these youths to doing such extreme actions.

My reaction: do not blame the toilet is you're constipated -- that's just clutching at straws. My answers to their question, albeit overly simplistic and generalising: attention seeking, opportunistic, sense of adventure, boredom...

A question that is independent of political views: why did the youth have to put the aged through such pains on a sunny day such as this, when he should have been celebrating his heritage and accomplishments?

Anyways, that's my two cents worth for today. Have a good one.

Ah, the irony. How does a car get more hair than a guy?
